Memphis Tennessee Temple
It’s a quick trip to my 68th temple visited, the Memphis Tennessee Temple. For once I didn’t fly on Frontier Airlines or Spirit Airlines; I flew on Southwest. The flight left Baltimore at 8:10 AM; I leave Memphis at 4:35 PM and arrive back in Baltimore at 7:30 PM.
The Memphis Tennessee Temple
The Memphis Tennessee Temple is about 30 minutes north of the Memphis International Airport. On the drive to the temple the Uber driver informed me that Memphis is the headquarters of FedEx. It’s also the headquarters of Saint Jude’s Hospital and AutoZone. Memphis is where Elvis Presley is from and also the place where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated.
The temple itself is not very big but that’s just fine. It’s right across the parking lot from the stake center which seems to be a common practice these days. I got there about an hour before the 11:15 AM session so I helped out with sealings. The sealer was phenomenal as everything was memorized and he move through things quickly.
One of the patrons in the endowment session was blind. It was touching to see how his friend next to him and helped him through the experience. The man conducting the session had half of the pinky finger of his left hand cut off. The murals on the walls are beautiful!
Don’t Miss the Memphis BBQ!
Once back at the airport I grabbed the barbecue pork sandwich for lunch with coleslaw. It was fabulous!
I’m now just waiting about another half hour to take off and head back to Baltimore. This was my 68 temple visited since January 2017. Only three more and it will be time for the wild card drawing!
