TEMPLE TREK WALL!

A Growing and Proud Achievement!

The Temple Trek Wall is my proudest achievement!  It’s the wall in my bedroom (on the right) that was barren prior to this adventure.  It is probably my favorite wall in the apartment now!

Which wall is more important? (February 2017, 4 temples)

Fourteen framed Broadway posters are on the walls of my bedroom.  And now I have on the center wall some framed photos of my visits to various temples.  (I’m collecting them!)

The stories of the temples and their frames follow.  So as I visit another temple I frame the corresponding photo and mount it to the right of the others.  Hence, the framed photos on my wall grow!

So, here’s the story, from left to right:

2017 Temples Visited:

  1. Manhattan New York Temple–This photo was taken by a stranger from across the street.  I chose this frame because I remember the beautiful butterscotch-colored wood that is inside the temple.
  2. Washington DC Temple–This photo was taken by a stranger.  The frame is probably the same color as the Masters Golf Tournament dark-green jacket color.  (See my post of this visit for a further explanation.)
  3. Payson Utah Temple–This photo taken by a lady exiting the temple who is from Alexandria, Virginia!  The frame reminds me of the temple’s beautiful dark wood.  The wood came from Africa.
  4. Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple–Photo taken by a stranger who turned out to be from near my home stake in Washington D.C.  He also has a son who is on our stake high council and is a good friend and business associate of mine!  Frame reminds me of the beautiful light wood floors inside the temple.
  5. Provo City Center Temple–This photo was taken by a stranger.  I framed it in yellow because it reminds me of Charlie Brown’s shirt from my daughter’s play the night before, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown!
  6. Oquirrh Mountain Temple–Photo taken by a wonderful lady who was there.  The frame reminds me of the beautiful light-copper hand railings along the stairways.  I am framing this in white because it reminds me of the many white church spires visible across the Salt Lake Valley.  My mother loves counting those!
  7. Provo Temple–This photo taken by an enthusiastic young woman who anticipated our asking her to take the photo.  Consequently, she responded before we could actually finish making our request!  Framed in black since it reminds me of the last painting you see as you leave the temple, that of a black mother bear and her cubs at the base of Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon.
  8. Denver Colorado Temple–Photo taken by a landscaper who was working in front of the temple at the time.  Consequently, the frame reminds me of the beautiful light salmon-colored walls inside.
  9. Orlando Florida Temple–This photo was taken by a sister missionary from Gilbert, Arizona who was working on the grounds at the time.  I noticed a number of them working there later that morning.  Will eventually frame this in heather purple, a new color I learned about from a temple worker, which closely matches the color of my girlfriend’s blouse.  The couches in the celestial room are heather purple.  They are stunning!
  10. Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple–My sister from Hawaii joined us!  Will frame it in light blue because it reminds me of the beautiful stained glass on the spire of the temple.
  11. Las Vegas Nevada Temple–Photo taken by a temple worker rushing to get inside!  Will frame it in white because the celestial room is all white.
  12. San Diego California Temple–This photo was taken by two full-time sister missionaries who were there.  Will frame it in light blue to remind me of the cookies we went and got for my primary class afterwards.
  13. Salt Lake Temple–Photo taken by a missionary on Temple Square.  Will frame it in gold.  Nothing beats this temple!
  14. Draper Utah Temple–This photo was taken by my daughter Kelly.  Notice the Cheesecake Factory bag!  Will frame it in one of the colors from the Cheesecake Factory bag.
  15. Fort Collins Colorado Temple–Photo taken by a lady who was just coming out of the temple.  Will frame it in red because it reminds me of the color of my girlfriend’s beautiful hair.  This temple is in her hometown.
  16. St. George Utah Temple–This photo taken by a mom who was there with her kids.  Will frame it in famous Dixie red sand color.
  17. Bountiful Utah Temple–Photo taken by the wife of a former mission friend, Gary Heaton.  Will frame it in purple because it reminds me of my cousins who live here.
  18. Ogden Utah Temple–This photo was taken by a guy who was just entering the temple.  I will frame it in black because it reminds me of the beautiful young temple worker who I saw that night.
  19. Brigham City Utah Temple–Photo taken by a young couple from Austin, Texas, where my brother lives!  Will frame it in royal blue because it reminds me of the sweatshirt worn by the woman from Austin, representing BYU in the south.
  20. Logan Utah Temple–This photo taken by a young man who had just come out of the temple.  Will frame it in a dark brown because it reminds me of the beautiful stonework done on this temple.
  21. Newport Beach California Temple–Photo taken by a woman just exiting the temple.  It makes me think of the beach, therefore I will frame it in beach-colored sand brown.
  22. San Antonio Texas Temple–This photo was taken by a young man coming to do baptisms for the dead.  Therefore, I will frame it in aqua blue because it reminds me of the beautiful stained glass.
  23. Hartford Connecticut Temple–Photo taken by a woman with HER phone who texted me the photo after my phone died.  Will frame it in chili brown because it reminds me of the meal I had at Panera Bread afterwards.

2018 Temples Visited:

  1. Los Angeles California Temple–This photo was taken by a guy walking down the street.  Will frame it in purple for the LA Lakers.
  2. Redlands California Temple–Photo taken by a woman coming to visit the church across the parking lot.   Will frame it in blue because it reminds me of the beautiful California night sky in January.
  3. Phoenix Arizona Temple–This photo taken by a temple worker on his way into the temple.  I will frame it in yellow because it reminds me that the sun came up while I was there.
  4. Mesa Arizona Temple–Photo taken by a woman headed to the genealogy center.  I will frame it in Denny’s red because it reminds me of the meal I had with my Uncle Bob that day.
  5. Gilbert Arizona Temple–This photo taken by a guy in a cowboy hat who is inactive and joked I’m from Washington, DC.  I will frame it in a color from Taco Bell because it reminds me of the meal I had after walking 1.5 miles to catch the bus!
  6. Cedar City Utah Temple–Photo taken by a woman on her way out of the temple.  Because of the red colored hills around the area, I will frame it in that color.
  7. Manti Utah Temple–This photo taken by a man who was driving away from the temple with his family in a van.  I will frame it in Kelly green because it reminds me of something I saw inside…
