Anchorage Alaska Temple
My trip to the Anchorage Alaska Temple was going to be my final US operating temple, number 82. But then the airlines stepped in and gave me too good of a deal. So, I just scheduled my Anchorage Alaska Temple trip for the last week of January. The Bismarck North Dakota Temple will be my last US operating temple in February.
The cheapest round-trip flight from Baltimore to Anchorage on KAYAK right now is $630. I just booked my trip for $379 here’s the proof.

Next, I booked a round-trip ticket from Las Vegas to Anchorage for $299 on Delta. Again, here’s the proof.
So, I’ll now be going to the Anchorage Alaska Temple in January and the Bismarck North Dakota Temple in February. And I’m excited for both!
It’s Wednesday, Jan. 24th. I’m on the plane in Baltimore. Headed to Atlanta shortly! From there to Vegas, where I will spend the night at the airport. I leave tomorrow morning at 7 AM. Arrive in Anchorage around 2:30 PM. Very excited!
It’s 9:10 PM. Our flight to Las Vegas departs in about 50 minutes. In the meantime, thank God for Qdoba being here in the Atlanta airport! 
What would a trip to the Anchorage Alaska Temple be without an overnight stay at an airport? Welcome to my little getaway spot at the Vegas airport. It’s the best place I know of to try to get away from the loud music that plays 24/7 overhead. And, as you can tell here, I’m rarely alone.
Go straight towards the darkest part of the photo on the left then turn left. Welcome to the Ritz Carlton. The photo on the right? Waiting for the Delta flight to leave for Seattle this morning. The coat that’s my pillow? $24 at Costco. Heavy duty. The flannel shirt that I’m wearing? $12 at Costco. Heavy duty. Bought them right before I bought the $1.50 hotdog with the 20 ounce soda.
Just landed in Seattle. 9:51 AM. I have so far been in the air for eight hours. (And I’m only halfway to Anchorage…)
landed in Anchorage around 2:30 PM. Came to an expensive hotel and crashed for an hour. Went to a restaurant called Bear tooth and order the salmon rice bowl. Fabulous! So were the cilantro fries!
You also have to love the scenery flying into Anchorage. The mountains are spectacular. You can almost reach out and touch them it feels like.
Once in the Anchorage Alaska Temple, I met Bruce Bartlett, a patriarch from the former Oklahoma City South Stake. He knows Brent Babcock, my high school buddy who has lived in Oklahoma City for a number of years.
I also met a gentleman who looks just like Santa Claus. I got a photo with him afterwards outside and he was terrific!
This is the 84th temple I have visited since January 2017. It’s the 81st temple I have visited in the United States. We only have 82 temples total in the United States. Next month I’ll be in Bismarck North Dakota and that will complete all of the temples in the United States.
I am very excited about this project!
