Tallahassee Florida Temple

It started this morning at 7:30…
It ended tonight at Steve Spurrier’s Gridiron Grill in Gainesville…What a great burger! 🍔

The flight cost to Orlando was only $16. The rental car from the Orlando airport was only $7, but Advantage keeps their cars off lot. Because of time, I just grabbed a Chevy Malibu from Payless and I was off to the Tallahassee Florida Temple, some 258 miles north!
The return flight early tomorrow morning back to Baltimore from Orlando is only $16. So all told, my total travel expense for this trip so far is less than 80 bucks!
Tallahassee Florida Temple
I’m sitting at Gate D4 at BWI airport, waiting to board my flight to Orlando in about 20 minutes. I’m flying to Orlando because Frontier doesn’t fly into Tallahassee, Florida. So it was either flying into Atlanta and drive four hours south, or fly into Orlando and drive 3 1/2 hours north. I went with the Orlando option!
The Tallahassee Florida Temple was announced in April 2020. It will be the third temple constructed in Florida. It was dedicated in December 2024 by Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. As of today, Feb. 4, 2025, it is one of only three temples in the U.S. I have not done temple work in (Casper Wyoming and McAllen Texas being the other two.)
The 4-Hour Drive Up from Orlando
It’s about 280 miles from Orlando to Tallahassee. The Orlando Temple is the one the saints in Tallahassee used to attend. Now, they have their own beautiful temple right here!

you know you’re in Florida when you’re passing tractor trailer loads of golf carts on the freeway. The area is also somewhat barren with some greenery around it and lots of pasture land in between.
I’m going in to do some sealings, including one man who has the same name as my good friend who is currently the temple president in Washington DC! It turns out the sealer was born in Cedar City, the witness couple was out visiting temples from St. George, another couple participating had the last name of Snow and had been invited recently to a Snow family reunion in St. George, then there’s me who lived in St. George for six years. It was an impromptu St. George reunion right there in Tallahassee! What a small world it is! 🌎
Next week I’m scheduled to visit the Casper Wyoming Temple and the following week I’ll be at the McAllen Texas Temple. At that point, I will have visited all of the operating temples in the United States, which is close to 100 temples!
