Oquirrh Mountain Temple

Oquirrh Mountain Temple

It’s a rarity to see more than one Mormon temple from the site of another one. The Oquirrh Mountain Temple offers that opportunity.

From the west side of Salt Lake Valley one can see the Jordan River Temple, the Draper Temple, and the Salt Lake Temple in the distance. So many temples in one valley is a compliment to the goodness of the people living there who can keep these temples busy.

One of the things I liked was looking for the white steeples of all the LDS churches throughout the valley from the front lawn of the temple.   That was something my mother was fascinated with as well.  The word “oquirrh” means “wood sitting” taken from the Goshute Indian word.  There is lots of beautiful wood inside the temple.

In keeping with my effort to eat something afterwards, I went straight to the airport from the temple (kudos to the Salt Lake Trax train system which took me across the valley and to the airport for only $2.50…!)   At the airport I grabbed a couple of donuts!

Gotta love that airport food! Comes in handy sometimes!
