San Diego California Temple

It has the most amazing celestial room!  A large, ascending staircase with two lofts up above make it a split-level celestial room which is the first one of these that I’ve seen.  Once up by the lofts you simply walk through a door and you see a massive atrium with the sealing rooms situated all around it.  Above the atrium is open, blue sky!

I attended the temple with my uncle Gary and my aunt Tafe.  We attended a Spanish session so I wore the headset.  I didn’t mind one bit.

This is one of the most spectacular and beautiful temples that I’ve seen.  My aunt said it’s rapidly becoming a destination temple for a lot of couples who want to get married here.  She took me around the sealing rooms and told me which of her kids got married in which rooms.

My uncle told me that Gordon B. Hinckley said near the completion of the temple, “Well, brethren, enjoy this one because we won’t be building any of these anymore!”  It also sits right off the freeway and is a spectacular view as you drive by.

Afterwards they took me down by the beach to VG’s Donuts and we scored on some surfboard cookies for my primary class. 

Gary of course wouldn’t let me pay for anything.  These guys were the perfect hosts!

I was fascinated by a certain symbol that was found all over inside the temple.  It’s made by a circle in the middle then two offset squares next, finally an octagon makes up the perimeter.  I’ve been trying to figure out what it symbolizes.  I asked one of the temple workers and she just said it had no particular meaning, it was just a symbol that they chose for the temple.

I just believe everything inside a temple has a purpose.  It was a fascinating session at a gorgeous temple!
