Draper Utah Temple
September 20, 2017
The only thing better than visiting one temple in a day is visiting two.
The Draper Utah Temple sits majestically at the top of the southeastern corner of the Salt Lake valley. The homes around it are majestic as well. The view from this temple is amazing. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of that view while I was there!
My mother dropped me off and I spent about an hour doing initiatory work before my daughter Kelly came to pick me up. My only concern was the uneaten piece of cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory that I still had in the bag. Would they let me in with the food?
All I can say is, those workers in that temple are cool. Not only did they let me in, they invited me to come back again with more cheesecake for the rest of them!
I was able to build a quick bond with the workers in the initiatory area. On a couple of occasions I was able to remind them of some of the words in the ordinance when they temporarily forgot them.
The thing I appreciated the most was the fact that I was really needed in initiatory. I didn’t have time to do a session because it would have meant Kelly would have waited for about 45 minutes for me. As it turned out, she arrived right when I came out with my Cheesecake Factory bag in hand.
We went straight to the Bombay Company in West Valley City and had dinner. It was terrific! Afterwards, I surprised Kelly with a $100 bill. She loved that!
Following dinner she dropped me off at the airport and I headed home. It was a wonderful 24-hour trip to visit my daughter, my mom, and two more magnificent temples–my 13th and 14th this year respectively!
