San Antonio Texas Temple
December 9, 2017
Two words start off this post: stained glass! There is a lot of it in this temple and it runs from floor to ceiling in some cases. It’s beautiful!
Two other words sum up this experience: awesome brother.
I flew from Washington, DC to San Antonio this morning to see my brother Kent and go to the temple. It was starting to snow when I left.
In honor of my daughter Kelly I wore my British socks. She gets me socks from around the world for various presents during the year.
It’s only about a 15-minute drive to the temple from the San Antonio airport. Before we went in we had this shot taken of us:
There is beautiful woodwork inside the various rooms that is spectacular. I love the large water wall just inside the entrance too. A large group of youth were there doing baptisms for the dead.
The temple is situated on a hill so there’s a great view of the surrounding area.
Afterwards we went down to the River Walk in San Antonio, a place I’ve never been before. It was awesome!
I got a kick out of some pigeons that were cleaning up from some people just ahead of us…
We hit an Irish pub and grabbed a Reuben sandwich and a steak sandwich with the trimmings.
After lunch we drove to Kent’s brother-in-law’s house and said hi to three of his kids. I loaded them up with a bag of M&M’s each.
I’m now on the plane headed back to Washington. I will arrive around 9 PM tonight.
You’re probably curious about the airfare if you read my post for the Newport Beach Temple! The round-trip airfare for this trip was $46.
The San Antonio Temple is the 22nd temple I’ve visited so far this year.
