Washington D.C. Temple

Washington D.C. Temple

January 28, 2017:  I was determined to make it happen on a Saturday night.  I was thrilled to find out the last session was at 8 p.m.  I actually postponed one final work appointment so I could go to the temple.  My goal was to get the Washington, D.C. temple visited in January.

I’ll mention two things about this visit:  the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia, and a couple named the Dudleys.

When I stood at the recommend desk and pulled my recommend out of my wallet, one of the workers noticed my Master’s tie and said they almost considered letting me in just because of the tie.  I joked with him that at the Atlanta Temple they “…let you right in with one.”  He laughed and enjoyed that remark.

When I got to the fourth floor I saw Bro. Dudley for the first time.  I didn’t know him; I just noticed him.  Here was a young guy, all dressed in white, with awesome hair and a  professional look about him, apparently working in the temple.  He came over and said hi to me and I realized he may be the one who was about to conduct our temple session.

When it was time to start the session I then noticed this beautiful young woman who stood by the door to the session room.  I noticed her name tag as I walked by and saw that it said, “Marinda Dudley.”  I put two and two together and realized here was a young couple who were working in the temple together on a Saturday night.

I’m not sure what it was about these two, but they seemed to epitomize what God had in mind when He instituted the ordinance of marriage–throughout the session they helped each other, smiled at each other, assisted each other, and nodded to each other.  If there was a magazine about good-looking young couples who believed in marriage, the Dudleys would be on the cover every month. img_0623-medium

Afterwards I went to an old favorite restaurant, China Gourmet, and bought the sweet and sour chicken with some fried wonton as an appetizer.  I came home filled both physically and spiritually and was overjoyed to have my second temple under my belt.

The frame for this picture will be in a forest green, the color of the winners’ jacket given out at the Master’s golf tournament every year.
