Bountiful Utah Temple

Bountiful Utah Temple

November 22, 2017

Two words start off the summary of my wonderful experience at the Bountiful Utah Temple this morning: reclining seats.  That’s unusual in an endowment room but it was a very nice touch!

I invited some of my missionary companions to come and Gary Heaton, a former high school classmate and fellow missionary, was able to come with his wife.

I flew in last night from Washington, DC and decided to spend the night at the airport.  Here’s my bed.  It’s not exactly the Marriott, but it works, and it’s free…!

At 7 AM I headed out on the Trax train and connected to the Frontrunner train at the North Temple station.  I then got off at the Woods Cross stop.  The one-way fare was a whopping $2.35 I think!  That is the good news.  The bad news is, there’s only one bus a day that takes you up near the temple and I missed it by about 30 minutes.

Enter Dave Farr, a great friend and my last missionary companion who lives not far away.  He was supposed to meet me this morning but forgot about it due to lots of things going on in his family in the last couple of weeks.  I called him at 7:30 AM and woke him up.  He was kind enough to come pick me up and run me up to the temple though.

That’s where I met Gary Heaton and his wife, Stacy.  Gary in an ordinance worker in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.  It was great to see him after so many years!

The rooms inside the Bountiful Temple are massively big and very impressive.  I was thrilled to see the magnificent celestial room with its gold-colored theme.

One of the great things about this temple is the incredible view of the valley that you get from the parking lot.

Once the temple work was done we went straight to In ‘n Out Burger in Centerville.  As always, they delivered!

From there, Dave took us to see his brother-in-law, Jerry Cook, who is also a fellow missionary.  Jerry has battled cancer the last few years and done an amazing job.

The entire meal to feed four of us was only about $25. It would cost me that much to feed just two of us in a later visit to the Newport Beach, California temple!

I’m writing this on the Frontrunner train headed to Spanish Fork for Thanksgiving with my family.

The Bountiful Temple is my 17th temple visited this year.  I have seven more to go and about a month and a half to do it.  I’m excited!

I love this Frontrunner system. I can go from the Salt Lake Airport to Provo for only $6!
