Cedar City Utah Temple
February 9, 2018
I came to Utah to attend the wedding tomorrow of my nephew. I flew into Las Vegas because of the scheduling of flights.
I arrived in Vegas at about 1 AM and slept in the terminal until 5:30. At 6 AM I caught the St. George Shuttle, arrived in St. George at 9:10, got the next shuttle at 9:30 and arrived in Cedar City at 10:30.
For $6 I took a cab west and up Cove Drive to arrive at the temple. It’s a magnificent building that sits on top of the hill.
The view from the front of the temple looking north is spectacular!
I rented some clothes and did some initiatory work. When I came out there was a young man sitting on the bench in front of the temple with his head in his hands. He was obviously in deep thought. I had to wait about 20 minutes for the taxi to come pick me up again so I ate some snacks and drank a bottled water on one of the other benches, about 50 feet opposite of where the young man was.
After a few minutes he approached me with his hands up around his face. He had a bloody nose that was pretty bad. I went inside and grabbed some tissues for him and verified there was a restroom right inside the front door.
I told him about the restroom. He asked if you had to be “endowed” to use it. “No,” I said,”…you just have to need a restroom.” With that I took him inside and showed him where to go.
When he was done he came back out and resumed his place on the bench. I asked him if there’s anything else I could do for him. He said no. I offered him some snacks to eat. He said he was okay. I then gave him my business card and told him if he ever needs anything to get a hold of me. He appreciated that.
I took the taxi back to the St. George Shuttle stop and I’m now headed north to Spanish Fork to meet up with my mom and Neal. From there we’re headed to the Manti Temple this evening. They’re supposed to have some great raisin cookies down in Manti that my mom is dying to get her hands on! Stay tuned for that report…
I like to grab something to eat after each of my temple visits. In this case I didn’t have time because I had to catch the next shuttle north. The shuttle, however, stopped in Meadow, Utah at a truck stop. It was there I found one of my lifelong favorite cookies–the famous Utah Pink Cookie. It was great!
One final thought: there are an awful lot of people in the world who are carrying around very heavy burdens every day. Going to the temple to lighten those burdens is a great move. If you’re worried about being “good enough” to go into the temple, go talk to your bishop. Don’t prejudge yourself! Leave that up to him and the Lord. The bishop can help you regardless of your current situation.
This is my 6th temple visited in 2018 and my 29th temple visited since January of 2017. I’m enjoying every one of them (the temples and the pink cookies!)
