Edmonton Alberta Temple

The first thing I’ll say about the Edmonton Alberta Temple is that after visiting the Calgary and Cardston temples, this one is small! That’s OK! It’s not the size of the temple that matters, it’s the fact that the work is getting done in more and more places.
It’s about a 200 mile drive from the Calgary Temple to the Edmonton Temple and I arrived around 3:30 PM, which was two hours before I needed to be there. I dropped into the Church distribution center at the end of the stake center next-door and purchased a few things I needed. Then I took a nap in the truck for about an hour. I downloaded another name from the family search app and had it printed out in the temple office once I was inside. I love how this app works!
This will be the third endowment session I’ve done in about 24 hours for three of my relatives. Thanks as always to my sister Lauren, for forgetting these names researched and ready for me!
Just before arriving at the temple, I passed a ski resort on the right hand side. The temple is actually only about a mile or so away from this resort.
One of the great things about these temple situations is that they’re frequently next to a stake center, and those stake centers generally have distribution centers in them. I was grateful I could pick up a couple of extra things at this one before going in for the session.
Another great thing about this temple is the way it is situated next to a busy freeway. The shot I took after leaving and heading back to Calgary is one of my favorites!
I was also excited to possibly meet a lady I had been talking to briefly online on one of the dating sites, but it didn’t materialize. She knew I was there at this time, and I was hoping she would come over and arrange to see me before I had to leave but I haven’t heard from her. Oh well…
On the way back, I had an exciting thing happen with a local sheriff. I realized I didn’t have enough gas to make it to the next station after I was about halfway back to Calgary. I passed an emergency crossover in between the freeway lanes, so I put on my flashers and started to back up towards it, hoping to cut across there and go back about a mile to a gas station that was on the opposite side of the road. As soon as I started to back up a sheriff with his blinking lights pulled up right behind me. I told him when I was doing and he kindly helped me back up safely and get across the street in my truck so I could go get some gas. With the gas tank filled up again all was well in Zion!
One of the great things in life is when you suddenly exclaim out loud, “I did it!” That’s what I said to myself about halfway back to Calgary. Three Canadian temples visited in about 24 hours and I even made $1000 while I was gone!
