Kansas City Missouri Temple

Kansas City Missouri Temple

After driving almost 1000 miles yesterday it felt great to get some sleep at a Best Western Hotel near the Kansas City airport. Stretching out on the king size bed felt like heaven!

Temple #4: Kansas City Missouri Temple

The sessions at the Kansas City Missouri Temple are available at 9:30, 10:30, and 11:30. I woke up at 8:30, grabbed the free breakfast at the hotel, and automatically kissed the 9:30 session goodbye. That would be just fine however as the 10:30 session would get me out at around noon and give me about six hours to go see church history sites in the area.

A beautiful temple that sits right next to the freeway.

I made the 10:30 session and marveled at the beautiful light colored wood that is inside this large temple. You can see this temple from a few miles away as you approach from the west.

I kept looking at the name badges of the many temple workers trying to see if there was a last name that I recognized from 40 years ago. No luck!

After the session I went straight to Independence to see my old stomping ground.

President and Sister Cannon from Las Vegas. They oversee the church history sites in the area. President Cannon also assisted Bryce Harper in going through the temple for the first time.

My Goal Accomplished!

I arrived back at the airport at 6:30, two hours ahead of my flight. I logged almost 1200 miles on the rental car in two days. I visited four temples and a number of church historic sites. I even stopped in and got to say a few words at a zone conference being held in the stake center.

My first zone conference in 40 years!

The Kansas City Missouri Temple is my 62nd temple visited since January 2017. It was also the wildcard temple for 2018, which I am thrilled to now report has been visited!
