Laie Hawaii Temple
As is the case with most of these trips, it starts with the food. Accordingly this morning, it was the Dunkin’ Donuts card that I’ve been carrying around in my wallet for years. It actually had some value on it! Accordingly, it scored me an apple fritter and a milk at the BWI Airport at about 5:30 in the morning. This was going to be a great trip!
I arrived in Chicago at 7:30 AM. Then I boarded my first ever 777 airplane at 8:30 AM. I had seat 31F. I thought it was a window seat. But I was wrong! I was in the middle of the middle seating area. And I the flight to San Francisco would be a little over four hours. Oh, to fly first class!
It is 12:49 PM San Francisco time and we’re just about to take off for Honolulu. Same large class of plane!
It’s 4:07 PM and I just landed in Honolulu! I hopped in my Payless rental car and drove an hour and 15 minutes to Laie. I stopped in at the Laie Hawaii Temple visitors’ center. The sister missionaries were all dressed in matching muumuus. It was beautiful!
From there I went to the stake center and joined the Laie third ward Christmas party already in progress. My sister Patti, her husband Eric, and other family members put on two musical numbers.
Now, the road leading up to the Laie Hawaii temple might be the prettiest entranceway we have!
Patti and I participated in the sealing ordinances of sealing five sons to their parents. Consequently, It finished off the temple work for those five boys!
Having had dinner at the Ward Christmas party, Patti and I headed to her house. She lives on Laie point, overlooking the ocean. Because of that, everybody in their life should at one point visit Patti and taking the view from her backyard!
She, her husband Eric, and their family have lived in Hawaii for 22 years. Originally, they came for a one-year stay. Now that was 21 years ago!
The Laie Hawaii Temple was dedicated in 1919 but Heber J Grant. It was the fifth temple dedicated.
