Vernal Utah Temple

Vernal Utah Temple

It all started with the airfare—$156 round-trip from Washington DC to Salt Lake City.  I came out to wine and dine my 88-year old mother for her birthday.  I told her she got to choose whatever she wanted to do.

She chose to go to the Vernal Utah Temple. So off the two of us went this morning, leaving at 8:30 AM.

It’s 165 miles to Vernal from Spanish Fork. We went up through Provo Canyon then headed east on highway 40.  We passed Strawberry Reservoir, then went through Roosevelt, and finally came down into Vernal.

The temple is beautiful.  It’s a converted old stake center.  Fabulous use of oak wood in the furniture and decor.

They asked my mom and me to be the witness couple.  That was a first. What a joy!

Afterwards we hit Wingers for some lunch. I went with the Garlic Breath Burger; she had the Fiesta Tacos.  They were both great.  But the hit of the afternoon was their blackberry lemonade. We both loved that!

The Garlic Breath Burger- really good!

We talked about all kinds of stuff along the way.  You know you did something right when before you leave your mom says, “This is the best birthday present ever!

The Vernal Utah Temple is my 46th temple visited so far and my 22nd temple visited this year.  One more and it’s time for the wild card temple!
