Gila Valley Arizona Temple

Gila Valley Arizona Temple

Having done two initiatory names at the Snowflake Arizona Temple, it was now on to the Gila Valley Arizona Temple (another 177 miles) to repeat the performance, hopefully with a few more names!

I saw from a distance what appeared to be an old tabernacle in Snowflake which reminded me of the tabernacle buildings in Provo, Brigham City, and St. George. I drove closer and took a shot of it.

A restored tabernacle?

On the way to the Gila Valley Arizona Temple I took this photo of a threatening storm ahead.

When I arrived in Gila Valley around 4 PM it was raining. Mother Nature dictated I do a selfie instead of asking someone else to take the shot.

I loved the gray colored furniture in the celestial room. A gray frame works for this photo. I also love the snowcapped pearks that are behind this temple. I didn’t expect to see snow in Arizona!

A Tribute to Spencer W. Kimball

After doing five initiatory names in this temple, I dashed over to Taco Bell to grab some lunch. At the drive-through window, I ordered the number eight special: three tacos and a medium soda for $6.20. The lady came on this squawk box and said something about saving money, three tacos and a large soda for what I thought was an extra $1.85. Someone in a hurry, I told her that was fine.

I have often wondered why Spencer W Kimball like growing up in the small town of Thatcher, Arizona so much. It is directly south of this temple. The Taco Bell was in Thatcher.

I then realized why when I saw the order board at the drive up window change. The special she had mentioned was three tacos and a large Dr. Pepper for a total of $1.84! I was almost ready to move to Thatcher myself.

I dashed out of town anxious to see if I could make the final session at the Tucson temple, which I thought started at 7:30. It was 140 miles away…I was thrilled to take the tacos with me!

The Gila Valley Arizona Temple is my 53rd temple visited and my fifth in the state of Arizona 😎🙏
